BAFTA 2023 Nominations Overview

"Shakespeare in Love" achieved nominations in all eligible categories, with the exception of Special Effects. However, it was excluded from the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film, as the Academy deemed its American production roots disqualified it from this category.

Unlike previous years where BAFTA highlighted UK talent absent from the Oscars, this time it was "The Truman Show," an American film, that garnered attention from British voters, compensating for its lack of recognition across the pond.
