Pirates Top Tigers 4–1 for Third Straight Victory

DETROIT — With a revamped roster and growing momentum, the Pittsburgh Pirates took care of business Tuesday night, notching their third straight win with a 4–1 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.

Johan Oviedo led the way on the mound, delivering seven strong innings of one-run ball. The right-hander scattered six hits, struck out five, and continued a hot streak that’s seen him allow just two runs over his last 13 innings.

The bullpen closed the door with authority: Dauri Moreta, Carmen Mlodzinski, and David Bednar combined to toss the final two frames, allowing no hits and racking up three strikeouts.

Quick Strike Offense

The Pirates broke through early with a three-run second inning:

  • Connor Joe singled with one out.

  • Endy Rodríguez followed with a booming triple to center, plating Joe.

  • Liover Peguero capped the rally with a two-run homer, his third of the season.

They tacked on an insurance run in the fourth, when Josh Palacios drove in Alika Williams with a sacrifice fly. Palacios also notched a ground-rule double, finishing the game with two hits.

Balanced Production

Six different Pirates collected hits:

  • Peguero, Joe, Rodríguez, Jared Triolo, Andrew McCutchen, and Bryan Reynolds all contributed to the offensive effort.

Looking Ahead

The Pirates (now surging with confidence) will look to sweep the two-game series and extend their winning streak to four on Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET.
